This is our fifth preview video for Christine. Christine’s entertaining style inspired us to consider that a speaker’s sample video could be more than a demonstration of skills and expertise; it could be a true reflection of the speaker’s personality. Why can’t a video be more than a recording of the speaker on stage? Why not leverage technology to convey an idea with great sounds and images, too? So, my co-producer and editor JC came up with the concept for this video and set out to take the production beyond the platform and tell the bigger story. The result is something that has raised the bar for the industry. JC even teamed up with Kristin von Bernthal (a songwriter and musician as well as the webmaster of this website) to write and record an original theme song for Christine. Needless to say, we had a lot of fun with this enormously successful production. Christine still continues growing success as a speaker who understands the value of communicating a message with a high entertainment value. So, enjoy the Christine Cashen Show!

Lenora Billings-Harris

We were thrilled to be picked to produce this first preview video for Lenora Billings-Harris. This is another example of how interviewing helps define the speaker, message and technique, which is not always possible to do. When Lenora came to Michigan to speak, we videotaped her program and brought her to our studios in Clawson, Michigan to tape the interview pieces. The interview helped me appreciate the huge market for diversity.

Nancy Coey

Nancy came to us feeling she needed a new approach for her marketing video. She had produced three videos, none of which were effective for her. She invested in some new footage. As you will see, she is very animated and captivating - a great story teller. We only did what we always do - design a video that not only shows what she does and how she does it, but conveys her key message and unique style. A unique aspect of this video (there’s one in every project) was the kitchen table scenes. I flew from Michigan to North Carolina to interview her, one of the signature features in our marketing videos. We were not comfortable anywhere but the kitchen table. As unconventional as it was, it really worked to provide an intimate setting for the viewer to get to know Nancy and her wonderful message.

Laurie Brown

Laurie Brown came to us to produce her preview video because she needed an effective tool to increase her speaking engagements. The presentations were filmed by Primeau Productions and the editing was done by Ed and JC with Laurie Brown as Executive Producer. Most projects are unsupervised but in this case, Laurie being from the Detroit area, decided to have a role in the production.

Recording Process

Preparation: Your producer and the selected narrator will prepare for the recording sessions.
Your audio book will be recorded in a state of the art studio including an audio engineer who is also an experienced producer. This talent will assure all words are pronounced properly, professionally edit as well as add production music at the beginning and end of each CD and Mp3 digital file.

The audio book will be professionally mastered for packaging to both State-Of-The-Art Audio CD and digital MP3 downloadable files. As part of the mastering process, our audio engineer will insert the chapter marks (so the listener can reference specific pre determined portions or chapters of the audiobook. Our engineer will also add disc change cues as necessary. There are no hidden productions costs. Our packages are all inclusive. What you see is what you get.

Production Tips and Techniques
Stay away from “Cookie Cutter” style videos. Why on earth would anybody in any business, professional speaker, author, entertainer or corporation want to produce a marketing video that looks the same as another competitor?

Sure any video is better than no video--but do you want to be perceived like everyone else in your market segment competing for business with a blah blah video, or do you want to show value and be unique?

Have your leader (CEO, company president) star in the video. People buy people and talking heads sell!

Always begin with PROFESSIONAL RECORDED VIDEO that consists of high quality digitally recorded footage including audio using direct microphone sound sources.

In other words, the announcer, presenter or performer is wearing a headset or lavaliere microphone. If live, the audience (if applicable) is also being picked up with audience microphones. Audio is an important ingredient in a professionally produced video.

Lighting is an equally important ingredient. You want your subject well lit. Use incandescent lighting instead of fluorescent and avoid shadows. Make sure you have enough key lighting to bring out details and facial features and avoid “hot spots” -– light reflecting off shiny surfaces like eyeglass lenses and un-powdered skin. Avoid back lighting at all costs.

Another important tip for a successful video is CREATIVITY.

Look at any great video and list all the creative elements you admire about that video. Creativity can be expressed in the clips, sound bites, voice over, music and graphics. It is a good idea to write a script or storyboard when you begin any video production and review to ensure everyone is on the same page with your expectations of the production as well as the client with the creative vision for execution.

We nailed Steve Rizzo’s brand every time creatively. With Rizzo’s talent, it was a matter of brainstorming until we had an idea and position for the creative angel of the video.

In one of the videos we had little comedy breaks that took the viewers attention away from the stage presentation segments and allowed them to escape to another dimension. This technique adds production value and is a great opportunity to exhibit his brand.

Another tip for a successful Video is BRANDING. What will your viewer remember about the video? Will they ask for you and remember you?
